LLM referral traffic

This is where people are measured, not bots: human visitors who reach your site from AI chat platforms. It is the metric that connects visibility to the business.

How they are detected#

AgentFi identifies a referral in two ways:

The Referer header
The browser reports that the visit comes from chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai or another platform.
The /agentfi/pages/ redirect
The visitor clicked a link pointing at the optimized version of the page, served by AgentFi.

Metrics#

Referrals (30 d)
Total referred visits over the last month.
Unique Platforms
How many distinct AI platforms have sent traffic.
Pages Reached
How many of your pages received at least one referral.
Via Page Redirect
How many arrived through the /agentfi/pages/ path rather than through Referer.

Referrals by platform#

The split by source: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Unknown LLM.

What “Unknown LLM” is

Unknown LLM is usually the largest category, and it is not a measurement failure. It groups visits to your AIO URL whose source could not be identified: a URL pasted straight into the address bar, a click on a bookmark, a link from an AI tool that strips the Referer header, or a private-mode browser. Clicks you make yourself from this dashboard are filtered out and never appear.

Period controls#

The section lets you narrow the range and the granularity:

  • Presets: Last 7 days, Last 30 days, This month or Custom with start and end dates.
  • Grouping: Day, Week or Month.

Data is grouped in the time zone the panel itself states, and weekly intervals run Monday to Sunday.

Traffic over time#

A bar chart with the total referrals per interval. The figure in the corner shows the total for the selected range.

Top landing pages#

A ranking of the paths that receive the most referrals. Cross-checking it with Search visibility is useful: the pages engines cite tend to be the ones at the top here.

Recent Referrals#

A table of the latest referred visits, column by column: Platform, Path, Source (Page or Referer), Device and Time. Opening a row also shows the full user agent.

LLM traffic vs regular traffic#

A comparison table that puts the AI channel in context against the rest of your traffic:

ColumnWhat it measures
Total visitsPage views by people in the interval.
RegularVisits that do not come from an AI.
AI fetchesUser-initiated requests from AI assistants (ChatGPT-User, Perplexity-User, Claude-User…).
From LLM (est.)Estimated referred visits: AI fetches multiplied by a conservative click-through rate.
LLM shareWhat share of the total the AI channel represents.
Warning

The From LLM (est.) column is an estimate, not a count. It exists because AI platforms strip the referrer and direct attribution undercounts. The panel states the conversion rate applied next to the table. Treat it as an order of magnitude, not an exact figure.

Export#

The Export button downloads the data for the selected range as CSV or Excel, with these columns: period, total referrals, top platform, top landing page, total visits, regular, AI fetches, estimated from LLM and LLM share percentage.

Tip

Export a full month and cross the LLM share column with your own conversion data. It is the most direct way to put a business number on the AI channel.

Viewing the visits in one interval#

In the per-period table, every row has a View visits link that opens the detail for that specific interval, with pagination and the full list of visits.
